Amuck, Amuck, Amuck

Ciara's Halloween masquerade ball was in full swing and while everything looked like it was going great on the surface, something was amiss. Jakob just couldn't quite put his finger on it.

He was sipping on a fine Czech Pilsner in the beer garden section of the party surveying the guests. Cage had gone off with a pretty woman in leather, which was totally his type. Too bad she hadn't lit up his soul shard. It would be nice if Jakob wasn't the only Wyvern with a mate. He knew that sometimes Ciara got a little lonely and wished for other dragon mates to talk to. Hopefully many of his Green Dragon Warriors would find mates tonight.

Hmm. So far, not so much.

Ky Puru, the Blue Wyvern from New Zealand grabbed a bottle from the pumpkin cooler and clinked it against Jakob's. "Hey Bro. You haven't seen Match, yet, huh?"

"I think you'd know if I had. You'd better have your ice ready to put out our clothes when he shoots flames at our asses for dressing up as a grumpy version of him."

Ky tapped his cheek and frozen mist floated out of his nose. "Ready and waiting. He could shoot lava and it would still be worth it."

Jakob pointed to a couple who thought they were hidden among the bushes making out but were pretty much making out right in front of the whole party. They couldn't get enough of each other, just like Jakob couldn't get enough of Ciara. He jerked his chin toward the couple. "Is it weird that so many dragon warriors are hooking up with women they are very into, but none of them have found a true mate?"

Ky raised an eyebrow. "Dude. You know dragon warriors are horny as. Besides, you can't expect everyone to find mates just because you and a few others of your Greens have. It's still a rare occurrence.

"It just seems suspicious that with such a large gathering of dragons, not a single soul shard has lit up." Jakob took a swig of his pilsner and looked for Ciara. He hoped she hadn't noticed yet. It was really going to bum her out if no one found a mate tonight.

She'd had a weird day as it was, sort of in a fog. He’d put it off as her being stressed about last minute details, but that wasn’t her usual M. O.

His gut instincts to defend and protect her were raging and he could not figure out why. It was a fucking party, people were having fun, but Dragons weren’t finding mates.

Every cell of his being screamed at him to do something other than stand around dressed as a grumpy red dragon. Ciara would kill him if he whisked her away from the party simply for being paranoid. Besides the fact that if he ruined her party, she’d never let him in her pants ever again.

If he ever needed to figure out how to be a Wyvern, it was now. His own needs never came before that of his Wyr.
